Ashley Saenz Selected to Leadership Frisco Class XXV
Whalen Law Office is pleased to announce that our very own Ashley M. Saenz has been selected as a member of Leadership Frisco Class XXV.
“We are proud that Ashley has been elected to this elite leadership program,” said James Whalen, founder of Whalen Law Office. “Even at this early stage of her career, she has demonstrated strong leadership skills. This program will enhance her ability to not only be a better criminal defense lawyer but a strong leader in our community.”
Leadership Frisco is a nine-month community leadership program sponsored by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce and led by a volunteer group of 25 past graduates known as the Leadership Frisco Advisory Council. The purpose of the Leadership Frisco program is to develop a pool of qualified, highly motivated individuals interested in expanding their leadership skills, deepening their sense of civic responsibility, and becoming more involved in the Frisco community.
The 24 members of the class were selected from a large and competitive pool of applicants. The program year kicked off on Friday, September 10, 2021, at Crest Infiniti, with a “Leadership Dynamics” session followed by a dinner featuring a fireside chat with Frisco City Manager of 34 years, George Purefoy. Christal Howard of Community Impact Newspaper, and Tony Felker, President/CEO of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, moderated the chat. On Saturday, September 11, 2021, the class met at a ropes course for a day of team-building exercises facilitated by “Leadership on the Move.”
During the program year, a full day each month is dedicated to exploring the inner workings of Frisco’s government, educational system, economic development, service organizations, regional issues, leisure and culture, health services, and public safety. Class members have the opportunity to learn about and practice skills critical to working with volunteers and groups in the community. Ashley received her law degree from Texas A&M School of Law. Working at a family law firm her first year of law school, Ashley quickly realized she had a preference for criminal law. She interned with the Collin County District Attorney’s Office as well as the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. She also clerked for the Second Court of Appeals for Justice Lee Gabriel.
Ashley is an advocate for her clients and appreciates that facing criminal charges can be daunting and, therefore, understands the importance of providing judgment-free help to clients. She has a special passion for children in the criminal justice system and supports efforts to provide better resources to help these children.
