If law enforcement officials ask to search my home or office, do I have to let them?
If law enforcement comes to you either your house or your office asking to search either one you do not have to let them. You do not have to give them what we call consent to search your house or office. If they have a warrant then obviously you have to let them in to comply with the warrant. But, if they’re simply asking you and you’re not sure what to do my advice is don’t consent, consult with a criminal defense attorney, or any attorney, to get some advice but definitely a seasoned criminal defense attorney can help you and guide you through that but you do not have to consent. And my advice would be not to consent.
