Whalen Law Partner Ryne Sandel Highlights Personal Reasons for 13th Year of Extra Life Fundraising

Whalen Law Office partner Ryne Sandel recently shared a clip from his Twitch stream explaining why he has supported Extra Life — the gaming community’s annual fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals — for 13 consecutive years.
In the clip, Ryne explains the personal connection that drives his effort: a college roommate treated for Ewing’s sarcoma and his wife’s goddaughter’s battle with childhood leukemia, both of whom received care through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “They treat kids that are suffering from the worst of the worst in terms of sickness, regardless of the family’s ability to pay,” Ryne says. “You get top-of-the-line care, and you never have to worry about a bill. It’s a cause I hold near and dear to me.”
Extra Life turns gaming marathons into a fundraising platform for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Each year, participants — including Ryne — stream their gameplay (often for 24 hours) and solicit donations to support pediatric care, research, and hospital resources. Ryne’s 24-hour marathon this year is scheduled for November 8–9, and his personal fundraising page is open now.
